Dental Bonding: What Can It Fix?
Dental bonding is a simple treatment that is used to restore or improve a person’s smile. At Neil Starr, DDS, PC, we can dramatically change the look of your front teeth after they have been exposed to small damage by bonding composite material to the surface of your tooth. This procedure is less costly than other dental repairs, including placing a dental crown, and can make a significant difference in your look. Dr. Starr or Dr. Orta can evaluate your smile and make recommendations which may include dental bonding.
Dental Bonding is the bonding or adhesion of composite filling material to the surface of your teeth. The composite filling material is the same material dentists use to fill your cavities following the removal of decay. Composite is a blend of quartz and resin that can be colored to match your tooth color, helping it blend perfectly with your teeth. The material used today is strong, durable, and should last several years.
Though not as strong as dental crowns, dental bonding is a cosmetic solution that has proven to be a great supplement to improving the aesthetics and function of your teeth when making small repairs. Before treatment, Dr. Starr or Dr. Orta will evaluate your needs and review your options with you. If dental bonding is the right option for your situation, we can use it to repair:
The composite bonding material is surprisingly strong and resistant to breakage, but it is not as strong as your natural enamel. This means that the material is subject to breakage if exposed to the harsh treatment. Patients will need to be cautious in abstaining from nail biting, chewing on pens, ice or hard candies. Our team at Neil Starr, DDS, PC, along with Dr. Starr or Dr. Orta, will review the bonding procedure, and care instructions with you at your appointment.
