How Long Can You Delay Tooth Extraction?

Posted on 8/22/2022 by Neil Starr DDS PC
Having a tooth that needs to be extracted and not taking care of it as soon as it is discovered can cause more harm to your overall oral health. The following factors may convince you that it is preferable to arrange the extraction sooner rather than later: Dental Decay The mouth becomes susceptible to bacterial infection and inflammation when a tooth decays. Infected blood vessels or nerves put a person at risk of an abscess. When an abscess is exposed to severe temperatures, symptoms such as sensitivity and discomfort may manifest. It can also cause face puffiness as well as difficulty breathing and swallowing. The unpleasant and persistent pain persists till the tooth is extracted. Additionally, the infection might spread to other parts of the body. It might worsen oral health and cause other serious complications. If you postpone treatment, the infection can progress and destroy the local anesthetic, rendering the entire extraction operation uncomfortable. Infected teeth must be extracted as soon as possible. Fractured or Broken Tooth An endodontist can determine whether or not to salvage a fractured tooth. A broken tooth creates an environment in which bacteria and illness can thrive. A chipped tooth might cause pain when eating or drinking. They may even cause damage to your gums, lips, or the inner lining of your mouth. Extracting the tooth as soon as possible is preferable to prevent subsequent symptoms. As teeth, gums, and the mouth are interconnected with other essential organs, extra caution is required. Extraction is necessary if periodontal disease has deteriorated the bone surrounding the tooth. Too much delay can result in significant bone loss. The illness could spread and impact your health as a whole. It is always wise to get treatment immediately. Immediate treatment prevents needless suffering and costlier procedures. It also protects surrounding teeth and bones from harm. Please make an Appointment with Us or Visit Us Today to discuss the extraction of your tooth....
