Everyone hates brown or yellow teeth and wish for a perfectly white smile. They know the importance of brushing, flossing, and mouthwash. However, most people don't know what causes this discoloration. Tartar is the culprit behind teeth discoloration and can easily accumulate in your teeth even if you maintain good oral hygiene.
At Neil Starr, DDS, PC, Dr. Starr and Dr. Ortacan share natural ways of removing tartar but recommend professional tartar removal as the safest and smartest option.
What is Tartar?
Bacteria, food, and proteins turn into sticky dental plaque inside the mouth and coat teeth, as well as fillings, braces, and other dental work. It forms a breeding ground for bacteria that damage the tooth's surface. If you don't treat it, the plaque hardens and discolors, forming into tartar. This hard calcified deposit is terrible for the teeth and gums. It not only looks bad but leads to tooth decay, cavities, and other oral conditions.

How to Remove Tartar from Your Teeth
The most effective natural way of removing tartar is brushing your teeth with some baking soda, thoroughly scrubbing both teeth and gums. You're probably not going to like the taste, though. However, baking soda can neutralize harmful acids from candy, sodas, and other foods while also whitening teeth naturally.
Next, you can use white vinegar to cut through tartar by mixing it in a glass of warm saltwater. Applying this solution once every day can gradually remove tartar between the gums and teeth by killing bacteria. Lastly, you can use orange peel. Its antimicrobial properties and vitamin C reduce tartar buildup. You can even turn it into a paste and brush your teeth with it.
