What Are the Oral Health Benefits of Strawberries?Practicing good oral hygiene can guard your mouth against tooth decay and gum diseases. In addition to these, a healthy diet is necessary to replenish your body with nutrients and aid in the fight against diseases. Strawberry is among the food choices, which besides satisfying your sweet tooth, will benefit your oral health. Eating strawberries raw in salads will help fight against gum disease, remove bad breath, and whiten teeth.

Fighting Against Gum Disease and Bad Breath

Strawberries, like other citrus fruits, are rich in vitamin C. This vitamin is an immune booster and consuming this fruit will help your body fight inflammation and gum disease. Vitamin C also helps the body produce collagen, which strengthens the gum. Strawberries also contain antioxidants, which promote a healthy mouth. If you chew strawberry, its fiber will act by removing food debris and plaque from your mouth, giving you a fresh and sweet breath. This remedy is beneficial for individuals suffering from bad breath.

Tooth Whitening

Strawberries contain malic acid, a vital tooth whitening element. Malic acid whitens teeth by softening and dissolving stains. After using strawberry for teeth whitening, remember to floss to remove its seeds, which may stick between teeth. If you use strawberry for teeth whitening, a once per week treatment is ideal for preventing enamel wear by malic acid. After consuming strawberry, you should rinse your mouth with water to flush out the acid. You should also pair your fruit salad with nuts and spinach to neutralize malic acid. After eating strawberries, wait for about 30minutes before brushing your teeth to avoid weakening your enamel. Finally, you should pair up eating strawberries with good oral hygiene for the best results. A regular dental exam is also ideal at least twice a year for dental checkup and cleaning.
